Dear EFY Participants
We sincerely look forward welcoming you to this years EFY in Porsgrunn. In this letter you will find very important information. We ask you to read it carefully:
What to bring?
- Inflatable mattress, (or something else to sleep on) sleeping bag and pillow. (All participants will reside in classrooms)
- Appropriate casual clothing (everyday clothing) according to church standard. (The dress code is casual 4 out of 5 days.)
- Sunday clothing
- Best dress outfit. (If you want to dress up for fridays dance)
- Toiletries and a towel
- The scriptures
- Your journal and something to write with
- Personal medicine (If needed)
- Some pocket money
What not to bring
- Stiletto shoes.(Shoes with thin, high heals) The dancing floor can be ruined.
- Mobile game consoles etc.
- You are allowed to bring your mobile phone, but rules for it´s use will be covered in the handbook you achieve when you arrive.
VARIETY SHOW
Do you have a talent you would like to share with others? You will have the opportunity to audition for Thursdays Variety Show. All talents are welcomed. If you need an instrument or other effects to preform your number, you will need to bring them to EFY yourself. (A piano is available.)
FOOD
We hope you will enjoy the food at EFY. The first meal you will be served is dinner on the monday of arrival at 16.45. This means that you should bring your own lunch on the day of arrival. There will be ”special” food available for those of you that have informed us of their lactose intolerance, glut enzyme or being a vegetarian You must bring your own food if you have other special needs. We can provide refrigeration if that needed.
CANDY STAND
There will be a simple candy stand available at EFY. Only norwegian kroner will be accepted.
STANDARDS
We ask that you recommit to following church standards in dress, hairstyle, language and behavior during EFY. If you have questions with regards to church standards, ask your parents, youth leaders or priesthood leaders. Guidelines is also found in your "For the strength of youth" pamphlet and on www.efy.no.
Especially for Youth
Welcome to the Especially for Youth home page. This is the full, five-day, overnight program which begins on Monday morning and concludes early Saturday morning. Youth have the opportunity to learn and grow together while attending classes, devotionals and firesides together. Weekly highlights include Family Home Evening, dances, a musical program, games night, service projects, a variety show, good food, and a testimony meeting. Added benefits are new friendships, strengthened testimonies, and lasting memories.
